Intimate Evening at the Gardens: For Love of Rivers

Join us at Betty Ford Alpine Gardens' Education Center for an Intimate Evening with Kurt Fausch. For Love of Rivers will draw us into the international collaboration among stream ecologists to discover the strong hidden connections between rivers and their surrounding forests. Kurt will present the story captured in his book of the same title.  "Like trees and music and good health, streams and rivers are a gift to us as humans… In the end, I believe we will need to understand how and why we love rivers, if we hope to conserve them".  KURT D. FAUSCH is a professor Emeritus in the Department of Fish, Wildlife, and Conservation Biology at Colorado State University, where he has taught for 33 years.  His collaborative research has taken him throughout Colorado, the West, and worldwide, including to Hokkaido in northern Japan. His experiences in Japan were chronicled in the PBS documentary film "RiverWebs." He has received numerous awards from the American Fisheries Society and the World Council of Fisheries Societies, and served as the acting Director of the Graduate Degree Program in Ecology at CSU.   Program Schedule: 5:30-5:45pm - Appetizers and Drinks 5:45pm - Presentation
